Supporting Oar Blimey
The brave duo who are rowing the Atlantic for us to support people living with Dementia
Team Oar Blimey is made up of George Nelson and his brother-in-law Russ Davis. They will be taking on the enormous challenge of rowing the Atlantic Ocean, independently and unsupported, in a two man boat with the aim to raise £250,000 for two Dementia charities - Our Dementia Choir and Ladybrook Enterprises Ltd.
Setting off from Portugal on 1st December 2023, Team Oar Blimey will row across the Atlantic Ocean to Sint Maarten in the Caribbean. They estimate the trip will take approximately 90 days and to keep the boat moving 24/7, George and Russ will take turns rowing for 2 hours, then resting for 2 hours. There will be no support boats, no crew checking in on them or passing extra food over - it will be just George and Russ alone eating, sleeping, washing and rowing for three whole months!
The mental challenge alone will push them to their limits on this trip so they'll need all the support they can get.
We are so grateful that Oar Blimey has chosen to support Our Dementia Choir and we'll be cheering them on from now until they land on the shores of Sint Marten in February 2024!
Watch out for news from us on how we'll be supporting their fundraising activities, and we hope you'll help us by sharing all the latest news from Team Oar Blimey.
