Run for Heroes – 5K in May – The Bonser Family Raise £575 for Our Dementia Choir
It has been a very active and busy month of May for the Bonser Family. Our lovely Mick and his family have been out and about on their adventures and carried out some fantastic fund-raising activities during the Month of May with the Just Giving Run for Heroes 5K in May!
They were only required to carry out one 5K (in any exercise format) during the month, but they have smashed that and gone over and above!
Mick has done a number of 5K walks with his wife Karen and his carers., two 5k Bicycle rides and one 5k swimming.
Mick who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia and epilepsy over three years ago enjoys as much physical activity as possible and says it keeps him upbeat and stresses how important it is for his health and wellbeing!
We want to thank Mick, Karen, their daughter Hannah and dog Benji for all of their hard work and efforts on raising such a fabulous amount for the Choir!
Maurice Keeling Memorial Fund
Following the sad loss of beloved Maurice who was a big part of Our Dementia Choir we would like to thank Karen his wife and family and friends for their kind and generous donation of £415 to the Choir in his memory.
Maurice will remain in our hearts forever.
For more information on Maurice please see our website memorial page.
Our Dementia Choir at Christmas airs on BBC One on Weds 16th Dec at 7:30pm.
Just over two years ago, Vicky took to the stage at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham with a choir of people all living with dementia to perform in front of 2,000 people. Now, in this heartwarming special, Vicky tells the story of the choir through lockdown, leading up to a very special Christmas performance for one choir member. Mick is ticking off his bucket list while he can and wants to sing on a stage one last time. Unbeknownst to him, Vicky has arranged for him to sing on the stage of the London Coliseum with her Line of Duty co-star Adrian Dunbar.
THANK YOU, JOY!
A massive thanks to our amazing supporter Joy Haskey of Hucknall.
After finding out one of our choir members was a neighbour she has taken
‘Our Dementia Choir’ to her heart and raised a staggering £3,801 to date.
In September she did a sponsored hair shave and then also organised a summer Garden party
attended by Vicky and many of the choir members. Fantastic!
